I have been studying this book for a while now, written by probably the most controversial voice in the world of bodywork. In a nutshell the theory goes: Posture is irrelevant, forget muscle imbalances, it’s all about motor control. I spent a fascinating weekend studying with Dr Lederman consolidating my understanding and asking awkward questions. This book provides lots of evidence based studies into the field of neural plasticity (the brain’s ability to adapt and use alternative networks for movement, even after central nervous system damage) and how with dedicated application new habits can be trained in. Whilst I may not agree 100% with everything Dr Lederman posits, I’ve certainly gained improved understanding and skills to assist more people to move with greater ease.
